Birthday 2016

This year one of the new teachers' birthday falls close to mine. As we both love cherry blossoms, we decided to share a party. Unfortunately, we have had a good deal of wind, and the sakura cherry blossoms had mostly fallen by the day. We went up on a hillside behind a picture of a castle that the city sets up around the cherry blossom season. The weather was gorgeous. We had ice cream cake, and one of the teachers made peach pie; I had been craving it. The girl who shared my party gave me a gift (I had given her one earlier in the week.), and then we were both told to close our eyes. Eveyone had bought us little bouquets of flowers! A friend who couldn't make it to the party came over, and some of the other teachers came down to meet here. I got to dress one of the new teachers in my kuro tomesode kimono. Later, an acquaintance came over and we had dinner together.
I have been so blessed to have so many people brighten my birthday with flowers and gifts. One of my JTEs bought me a bento, fork and case, and thermos set. Three of my students gave me things they made in sewing club. A Japanese friend gave me a pencil case. Another Japanese friend gave me a bouquet. My family sent me several plants, and my boss gave me a large bouquet.
