Tokyo: Day Seven

In the afternoon, we went to Koenji. There is a nice long street of shops. There are many vintage shops. I had been looking for some things that I needed for my kimono, the more formal one, not my yukata. I found a beautiful formal obi. I don't have a kimono that will go with the obi, it's way too fancy for my yukata, even if it did go with it, and it won't match with my kimono. So, for now, I'll just admire it.
Shopping in Tokyo
This really depends on what you want. Harajuku is more upscale shopping. It's a nice area to walk. You can go to the Meiji Jingumae station and get off there. We also took that station later in the week to go to a tea shop. I did buy my yukata in Harajuku at a vintage shop called Chicago. But, if you are in to used clothing or vintage, then Koenji is a good area. Of course, some of the stores in Koenji are rather expensive, as well, because the clothing isn't simply second-hand. It's vintage. I couldn't really say whether Koenji is generally expensive or not.
However, that being said, I spent 6000 yen on my formal kimono and 4000 on the obi for it (the lady gave me a discount.) I spent 4200 on my yukata and obi. I spent about 2000 (less than $20) on the fancy obi, so I spent half on the fancy obi of what I spent on a slightly less fancy obi for my formal kimono. It was a really good buy. There are definitely other places you could shop in Tokyo.

I think we also went to the cat cafe this day. A cat cafe is a shop where you pay to play with the cafe's cats. If, say, you live in an apartment that doesn't allow animals, or you don't have the time to care for an animal, then a cafe can satisfy your need for animal affection. The place we went, Temari no Uchi, seemed like a decent place. It did smell, but that is probably normal. The cats seemed to be in good condition. We went at 7:30 in the evening. I would say that it was crowded and the cats were either sleeping or uninterested in humans. Perhaps it was just because it was the end of the day and the cats were tired, but I didn't really enjoy myself.
