花見

If you take 目 (me, eye) and add two little legs to it, you get 見 (mi, see). If you then add this new kanji to 花 (hana, flower), you get 花見 (hanami, flower see). Hanami is something that occurs during the spring. It's a cherry-blossom viewing. Today is my birthday. For birthdays, the person whose birthday it is gets to decide what they want to do, and then the team does it to celebrate that person's birthday. I wasn't really sure what I wanted, but I said something with nature if it was nice. One of my teammates was mentioning a picnic the team took last year. So, for my birthday, we had a hanami. The team cooked some foods I like. We went up the mountain a little ways to this grassy spot behind a wooden picture of a castle. (There isn't really a castle there, just a picture of one they put up.) We had sandwiches, deviled eggs, pop, water, milk tea, cheese, vegan macaroni and cheese, inari sushi, and more stuff that I can't remember. It was a great opportunity to take pictures and just enjoy the nice day. It was also nice to have some American foods. It was a very enjoyable way to spend my birthday. Very fulfilling.
There are cherry blossoms everywhere in Tamura, along the river and up the mountain.
