I want to thank all those people who came to my going away party or who wished me well. Here are a few pictures taken with my new camera.

Our team orientation was held at Grace Fellowship Church in Mansfield , OH. The church has had a longtime friendship with the Wakakusa English Program and Enchou Sensei (Mr. Maki). This shot was taken from the upper room of the church looking out on the pond. It was a little chilly that day!

A shot on our way to the church.

This is a close-up shot of a Stargazer Lily that someone so graciously provided to decorate our room at orientation. I love these lilies. This is kind of a weird shot, but I like the detail that my camera was able to pick up.

One of our service projections during orientation week was painting a room which will be turned into a classroom. Way to go Jenny and Ashley!

Our team with the team coordinator, Nate.

This was my first meal in Japan. It's called Kitsune Udon. Udon are a type of noodle. Kitsune means fox, but I'm not sure why this dish is called fox udon. It is made of udon noodles, miso soup, egg, and a sliver of fish (I think). We got this at a fast food place.

Here is a shot of some of our team on Easter morning taking some time for worship. We are all dressed up because that day we had the opening ceremonies for the Gakkuen.

Out in front of the Wakakusa Gakkuen (kindergarden) are some 梅 (ume, plum) trees. These trees are blooming right now, and I've been told that the plum blooms before the cherry blossom (桜, sakura). Last week when I arrived in Tokyo, the cherry blossoms were blooming. They are only starting to bloom here up north. I don't think that any of the trees along our river are blooming, but I think I saw one along the way to Koriyama. I can't wait to get out and take some more nature pictures!
